Congressional Black Caucus Budget Resolution Substitute

109th Congress, 2nd Session

May 17, 2006

On May 17, 2006, CBC Chairman Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) offered the Congressional Black Caucus substitute to the Budget Resolution. It was defated by a vote of 131-294 with 7 not voting. All members of the Congressional Black Caucus supported the amendment (Rep. Lacy Clay did not vote). Among Progressive Caucus members, only Representatives Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Tom Udall (D-NM) voted No. The only members of the Blue Dog Coalition to vote for the amendment were CBC members David Scott (D-GA), Harold Ford (D-TN) and Sanford Bishop (D-GA) along with Reps. Jane Harman (D-CA), Joe Baca (D-CA) and Ellen Tauscher (D-CA). No members of the Republican Study Committee voted Aye.
