Interactive Maps of Constituency Data for the
108th Congress
FairData, working in association with Techpolitics, has prepared and posted on the web interactive maps of constituency data contained in tables on the Techpolitics web site. Individual maps show percentage population by race, ethnicity and income, 2002 winning percentage and party affiliation. FairData has also been mapping voter registration data for individual states and clicking on a state name at the left at the link below will bring up links to those maps. For seven states the maps contain full 2004 voter registration data; for other states there is older voter registration or vote information.
Current voter registration figures are shown in maps for:
North Carolina
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Ohio
Arkansas
Maryland
Michigan
Missouri
Click on the following link for the introductory page to the interactive maps: FairData/Techpolitics Maps of 109th Congressional District Constituencies. Note the distinction between these interactive maps and the precinct-level Adobe maps that are linked by state name from http://www.techpolitics.org (center column). Also, you will see additional state names to the left on the interactive maps pages. The maps for those states have other, sometimes older, data.
By clicking on a box at that top of the map and then on the map, the viewer may zoom in and out, find individual addresses and find data about individual congressional districts. Dragging a box on the map with the mouse enlarges that area. The "Zoom In" command is particularly important to see districts in major urban areas. You may also zoom in to a several block area. On the income map, tags showing 1999 median household income for those small areas are shown, while all maps show constituency percentage figures.
Note also the links on the left to maps showing detailed Get-Out-the-Vote information for a number of states and graphs linked from the bottom of the congressional page.
