Supplemental Security Income Recipients by Congressional District
The Social Security Administration's March 8, 2004 publication of program data by congressional district includes a separate table for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients. We have combined state tables showing congressional district data and created the interactive table below which shows number of recipients at the end of 2002. Figures on Social Security recipients (OASDI) may be found in the table reached by clicking here.
The district with the largest number of SSI recipients by far (64,492) is represented by Congressman Harold Rogers, a Republican who represents eastern Kentucky. Congressman Rogers' district also had the second lowest median household income in the 2000 census, a figure that may be found by clicking here, a table that also shows how House Members voted on the bill to make elimination of the estate tax permanent.
